PICKLING

Pickling for Zinc Plating

Pickling: what is it?

In the zinc plating process, pickling is the stage aimed at removing various types of encrustations, oxidisations, or rust from the treated part. The pieces are immersed in acidic solutions with different concentrations, and the composition of these solutions defines the type of pickling process.
The following processes are distinguished in this regard: hydrochloric pickling, sulphuric pickling, and fluo-nitric pickling.

Moreover, it is also possible to carry out a high-temperature pickling procedure, which allows the use of acids with lower concentration and reduces processing times. Once the pickling stage is completed, where it is crucial for the metal surface to be completely free of oxides and scale, the pieces are then rinsed before zinc plating.
